- Österåker, 1989 - After the Second World War... Economic recovery was expected. ...Sweden, which was almost unaffected by the conflict, was gripped by the fear of a new war. The Swedish government invested in a program that would become known as the Total Defense Program. In the following years, Sweden actively increased its military budget, preparing the population for a possible invasion. All residents participated in drills and knew exactly where to go and what to do when the sirens sounded.
