Paisiev Monastery, 1940

Paisiev Monastery is located in Upper Karelia and was occupied by the Imperial Army in 1937 as a military headquarters. The monastery serves as a defensive position against a Red Army stronghold in the surrounding region. In 1940, the Imperial forces maintain a defensive line at the monastery and continue to repel periodic attacks from Red Army forces. The monastery remains a key strategic location for Imperial control of the area.
