for the best experience, make sure the ants have an exit/entrance in the base. without this, they won't have anywhere to go and may just stand around. sadly the AI doesn't yet stay within your base unless you have ~50 studs of base around each queen for the ants to use. saving/loading is glitchy and after saving, give at least 10 seconds before logging off if you plan to.
