Solve puzzles using Truth Bullets such as Detect, Link, and Move to earn batteries, then fight waves of Monokumas using Break, Burn, Knockback, and Paralyze.
Switch between Komaru Naegi and Toko / Syo once you have enough battery power. Batteries can also occasionally drop from defeated Monokumas.
