You've inherited a library. It's a wreck.
Open the doors, sort the returns, and put a thousand books back where they belong... fiction by genre, non-fiction by Dewey number. Damaged ones go to the repair bench, not the shelf. The returns box fills whether you're ready or not, so load the trolley and shift a whole armful at once.
Restore the derelict cases one at a time. Take requests. Serve the same reader three times and they'll take out a library card and from then on, they have a name.
Furnish it however you like: armchairs, lamps, rugs, beanbags in the children's corner. Put a sofa in the reading nook and people will come in just to sit and read. Then flip the sign to CLOSED, count the day's takings, and do it again tomorrow.
