SS Houston was a transatlantic ocean liner owned and operated by the Lone Star Line from 1900. Houston was ordered by Lone Star Line to McCarthy & Wolfsbane Co on 22 October 1897 at a cost of $2 million. Houston was launched on 17 April 1899, in Houston, Texas. On 7 March 1900, Houston completed her maiden voyage from Houston, Texas, to Liverpool, England via St. Augustine, Florida. At the time of her maiden voyage, Houston was the second largest ship in the world.
