About & history
The Norfolk was the first liner built for the Horizon Star Line in 1869. She operated on the Savannah to Liverpool route, with a gross tonnage of 2,200, she certainly was one of the smaller ships on the Atlantic. Norfolk is characterized by her figurehead of a "golden" eagle, a proud representation of the country she originated from. Norfolk served until 1875, when she ran aground off of North Carolina and subsequently capsized.
