The acronym RNG stands for random number generator. A random number generator has a variety of different uses. In computer programming, an RNG is often used to instigate random events. Computational algorithms are created to mimic the physical phenomenon of randomness and entropy that exist in the universe. The best RNGs have no distinguishable patterns. Game developers often try to create good RNG in their hardware for gaming RNGs so that the game does not become predictable.
