Leonard Park Mall

Credits to KyloVB for all fire systems. Located in Knoxville, TN, the Leonard Park Mall opened in 1976 with JCPenney, Sears, Service Merchandise, and Legget. It underwent some small renovations through the years, yet the mall started to decline after other malls in competition were doing much better. The JCPenney was demoted to a JCPenney Outlet Store in 1995, and Leggett was converted into a Belk in 1996. Sears was the first major anchor to close in 1997 and was immediately demolished and paved for a parking lot. JCPenney Outlet Store followed a couple years later in 1999 and closed. Service Merchandise was the latest to close in 2000 after business at the location dropped. Only 3 inline tenants are left. Belk announced that they will close their location at the mall in late 2002, most likely being the final nail in the coffin for the 26 year old mall.
