Vault 26

FEBRUARY, 2274 Carved into the heart of a forgotten mountain, Vault 26 was conceived through Vault-Tec's contract with the United States' Project Safehouse in the event of a nuclear detonation. It was built in the far outskirts of the Kansas City Metropolitan area. However, these vaults were secretly constructed to serve as contained, self-sustainable experiment grounds for the unlucky residents that happened to live inside them. The bombs detonated on October 23, 2077, as a direct consequence of the Sino-American War. As billions all around the world died, millions sought refuge in the vaults, and unwillingly faced Vault-Tec's terrible experiments on human life. However, no experiment conducted through the scientific method can start without a control. Thus, a few lucky vaults were designated to serve the purpose Vault-Tec marketed to the world: true safe havens from nuclear armageddon, with Vault 26 serving as one such bunker. Even after 197 years, Vault 26 remains active.
