Farmers, cattle herders, ranchers, and opportunists are eager to start a new life in the uncivilized areas of California. Newly established territories have yet to be awarded statehood and included in the federal government. Local law is enforced by trustworthy sheriffs, who are challenged by brutal and legendary gangs.
