Operazzjoni Vleġġa Mifruxa, 1937

Even with all the help accumulated from their Libyan colonial garrisons and the foreign expeditionaries, the Italian invaders would be prolonged to the point, where the Italian forces could do nothing, but keep their focus on the Maltese defences ahead, with the threat of such a distraction proving possibly fatal to their war effort. This was noted by the Maltese military staff itself, which then decided to launch a daring raid, codenamed "Operazzjoni Vleġġa Mifruxa" or "Operation Stray Arrow", where a Maltese raid party - aided by a Maltese destroyer - would be sent in the middle of the night to Agrigento region in Sicily and sabotage the Royal Italian Navy by potentially blowing up the docked vessels in the nearby dockyard. There is also a report of another Maltese destroyer nearby, which the Italians captured and the Maltese raid party would have a choice to either take it back or scuttle it.
