Proxima Centauri B

Proxima Centauri b is an exoplanet that rotates around the reddish dwarf star Proxima Centauri, which is the closest star to us, the Alpha Centauri system which lies about 4.24 light years away. It is within its star's habitable zone, Proxima Centauri b is characterized as a rocky planet where temperatures can still allow liquid water to exist, making it attractive in the quest for aliens. Proxima Centauri belongs to both binary systems Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B, two stars that are similar to the sun that gravitate around each other. As a result this all stars provide an interesting environment with relations to planet formation theories around multiple stellar systems.
