Strauss Centre Mall

The Strauss Centre (originally opened as Gerald Mall) opened on August 19th, 1978 in Strausstown, PA. The mall originally opened with 2 anchors, JCPenney and S ears Roebuck and Co. There were plans of a Bambergers moving in, replacing the rear entrance but those plans were soon shut down. In 1990, the mall recieved a interior remodel installing skylights, new flooring, and more importantly stores such as Deb Shops, RadioShack, and CVS (which would later become Rainbow Discount Store). In 1994, there was an electrical fire in the back room of the S ears department store. No injuries were reported, and no serious damage occured. In 1996, the Thom McAn store closed, and a Hollister store moved in soon after. In 2001, The CVS store closed due to underperformance. As of December 1st, 2006, The mall is still THRIVING, with no competition within a 45 mile radius, and at 100% occupancy.
