Mernbury Bay was once a jewel of the Cornish shores—a village where salt-sprayed cottages leaned into the wind and laughter echoed from the harbourside pubs. For generations, it thrived on the bounty of the sea and the warmth of its people. Fishermen hauled in nets heavy with mackerel and cod, while tourists wandered the cobbled lanes, drawn by the promise of windswept cliffs and golden sunsets. In the late 2000s, Mernbury still shimmered with life. The annual Fish festival lit up the bay like a constellation fallen to earth, and the local market brimmed with handmade crafts, fresh catch, and stories passed down like heirlooms. But something changed.
