Yeager Air Force Base (AFB) (IATA: YGB, ICAO: KYGB, FAA LID: YGB) is a United States Air Force installation located in Utah’s West Desert. The base operates under the 412th Test Wing and focuses on aerospace testing, research, and development. It was made operational in 2025 and named after Brig. Gen. Chuck Yeager, who became the first person to break the sound barrier in 1947. Yeager AFB supports the testing and evaluation of aircraft, hypersonic systems, and space-related technologies. In addition to Air Force operations, the base hosts civilian contractors from defense companies and joint guardians from the United States Space Force. Its remote location provides controlled airspace and an environment suitable for secure testing and experimental flight programs.
