Hamilton Place Mall

The Hamilton Place Mall, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, opened on August 5, 1987, as the largest shopping mall in the state, a title it held until 1998. It was built to curb retail leakage, the outflow of consumer spending to other cities like Atlanta and Nashville. The mall, developed by CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., started with anchors like Belk, Parisian, Loveman's, and Sears. Over time, it saw the addition of JCPenney and Hess's (later Proffitt's, then Belk). The mall has undergone renovations, including an expanded food court and accessibility improvements.
