GoldStar Elevators: A Legacy in Vertical Transportation GoldStar was a South Korean electronics manufacturer founded in 1956. Its foray into the elevator and escalator business began in 1968, making it the second oldest elevator manufacturer in South Korea. Initially operating as a division under GoldStar Industrial Systems, the company established a reputation for manufacturing a diverse range of vertical transportation solutions, including elevators and escalators. GoldStar had technical partnerships with major players in the industry, specifically Hitachi and Mitsubishi, allowing them to leverage advanced technology in their products. They even built a 114-meter elevator test tower in their Changwon factory in 1989! Evolution and Legacy In 1994, GoldStar merged with Lucky Chemical, eventually forming the conglomerate Lucky Goldstar (LG) in 1995. The elevator and escalator division continued to be under LG.
