CHAPTER 2: Aetherium of Frost

A metallic tang of copper and ozone burns in your nostrils. You wake to find yourself cocooned in a labyrinthine maze of conduits and cables, the rhythmic hiss-clank of unseen machinery the only sound. A single, rusted lever presents a stark choice. Throwing it activates a deafening cascade of gears and steam, and you stumble out into the familiar, dust-choked air of Eight Devils. But as you survey the familiar terrain, a shiver traces your spine—the architecture is askew, the sky an unsettling hue, and the pervasive silence feels less like peace and more like a held breath. The town's essence, once rugged and wild, now feels... synthetic. You've escaped one cage only to find yourself in another—the Eight Devils you knew is gone, replaced by a distorted reflection, a shadow of its former self.
