The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are the intercollegiate athletic teams of the Georgia Institute of Technology, named for the yellow jerseys worn by the team in the early 1900s. The official mascot is Buzz the Yellow Jacket, a costumed character created in 1972 and an integral part of the cheer team. The term "Yellow Jackets" has also referred to the team's fans and is a symbol of school spirit, with the Ramblin' Wreck, a 1930 Ford Model A Sports Coupe, serving as the other iconic mascot.
