Weird things (Pre-Alpha)

Until 1983, Hawkins was mostly a quiet town with a peaceful, uneventful life. The last report of a missing person was in the summer of 1923, and the last suicide was on November 6, 1961. The most notable attraction in the area was the secretive Hawkins National Laboratory, one of several national laboratories that emerged after World War II. In November 1983, during experiments at the lab, a gate to another dimension was accidentally opened, allowing a predatory creature from an alternate reality to enter the city. The monster kidnapped residents and took them with him to the Inside Out. Among its victims were Will Byers, who was only brought home a week later, and Barbara Holland, who could not be saved.
