Acheron-9 wasn't always this quiet. Not the natural sound of drilling, not the overwhelming screeching of metal and steel, not the creaking of pipes, just a low hum. It was unusual, it sounded like thumps when fluid wasn't running through the pipes. Large scraping against the ceiling, something was alive and was moving closer. Large rumbling had adjusted the atmosphere. You think it was just the rig, but deep down you know that it was something else. It was your 6th week on the job, you had gotten enough warnings that the rig manager was being generous, on Wednesday, Febuary 25th. Today you got called up to the office as you got out of bed. As you walked down the hallway, meeting friends you met along the way, you heard rumbling from below, but brushed it off as the average noises you'd hear on an oil rig. Before you make it, you get thrown off the stairway and land against a chained wall, waking up to an everlasting nightmare. Thank Still Wakes the Deep for the inspiration!
