S.S. Roxanne ~ 1919

Welcome aboard the Roxanne! ---- In 1915, The S.S. Roxanne started out her service as a warship owned by Britian, and was named the "Newfoundland". The Newfoundland served the war with minor issues, but after the war died down in 1918, the Newfoundland was put up for sale. GSL bought the ship, and renamed the ship to the Roxanne. She was refitted, and was given the iconic red w/ white funnel stripes, and resumed her service! As the years went on, the Roxanne continued her fruitful service. The company, however, did not notice how neglected the ship's systems were. One day in 1929, roughly 11 years after she was brought to GSL, 2 boilers exploded inside the ship, ripping a giant hole in her underside, and sending some of the woodwork down below up in flames. The ship sank in the Gulf of Maine in about 30 minutes, with over half onboard passing away.
