PT&W | Illinois Western Industrial Railroad

The Illinois Western Industrial Railroad is a 7 mile line located on the outskirts of Joilet, IL, serving local grain, manufacturing, chemical, military, and trash industries. The IW was originally operated by the Greenbrier Central, a predecessor to PT&W. However, in late 2021, the subsequent corporate collapse and restructuring of GCRR into PT&W left the small industrial railroad without a designated operator. Eventually, local governments, which were strained by the copious amounts of trucks due to lack of rail service, pushed for PT&W to be the designated operator of the small line.
