Midway County Mall

the Midway County Mall was opened in 1971 by edward j, debartolo group. with anchor stores hills, pomeroys, and wt grant. in 1976, w.t grant was turned into kmart. in 1988, pomeroys became hess's. in 1989, hills closed and jcpenney moved in soon after. its noted for being a really small store, clocking in at 75,000 square feet. in 1994, hess's became the-bon-ton. in 2005, preit bought the mall for 4.5 million dollars. in 2009, some of the storefronts got remodeled, including adding a american eagle where a jo-ann fabrics once sat. in 2015, the jcpenney store got robbed and a couple of employees got injured during the robbery, putting a bad rap on the mall. in 2018, the-bon-ton closed due to bankruptcy. in 2020, kmart closed due to bankruptcy. there are rumors a marshalls/homegoods store will move in to the former bon-ton space, but these arent confirmed yet.
