Paleozoic era

the events unfold in an alternative Paleozoic era where the prototaxites became extinct a little later and the forest began to appear much earlier. Silurian Period (443-419 million years ago) The first plants appear on land (psilophytes). Giant fungi (prototaxites) grow like towers. In the seas, jawless fish and sea scorpions (eurypterids) dominate. The land is mostly barren, covered with primitive mosses and lichens. Devonian Period (419-359 million years ago) The "Age of Fishes" - armored fish dominate the oceans. First forests appear, filled with primitive ferns and horsetails. First tetrapods (early amphibians) crawl onto land. First insects and spiders evolve. Oxygen levels rise, allowing life to grow larger.
