Romulus Gateway Express

The Romulus Gateway Express embodies the energy of one of Michigan’s busiest rail crossroads. Two major rail arteries intersect at the diamond, creating a hub of nonstop action for railfans and dispatchers alike. The CSX Saginaw Subdivision, running north–south, carries the legacy of the Pere Marquette and Chesapeake & Ohio, while the Norfolk Southern Detroit District, cutting diagonally southwest to northeast, recalls the proud heritage of the Wabash Railroad. At this junction, heavy manifests, high‑priority intermodals, and local freights converge, often producing dramatic meets at the interlocking tower. Railfans gather trackside to capture CSX and NS power roaring through, their horns echoing across Romulus. Dispatchers carefully choreograph movements to keep traffic flowing smoothly, making the diamond a living showcase of precision and heritage. The Romulus Gateway Express symbolizes motion, commerce, and history, blending past and present into Michigan’s rail identity.
